Sponsor a Class
A Sponsor is an individual who makes a long-term personal and financial
commitment to an entire Year class in a Primary School, i.e., the
30 or more Dreamers that he or she "adopts" from a local
school. A Sponsor provides or raises the funds necessary to run
the programme over its 12 to 15 year duration, from the time the
Dreamers are adopted in primary school through high school graduation.
More importantly, he or she makes a personal commitment to every
Dreamer in the Project: to get to know them, to take a genuine interest
in their lives and their futures, and to support their efforts to
finish school and follow their dreams for education, family and
employment.
By hiring at least one full-time Project Coordinator and obtaining
other staff, services and resources for the Project, Sponsors ensure
that their Dreamers receive year-round academic support, cultural
and recreational activities and individual attention while they
are in
school, and tuition assistance if they go on to college or vocational
training after they graduate.
